    Sad First Post

    This will be one of the saddest posts I will ever make.

    Friday I got a call from the medical examiner notifying me that my younger brother passed away.

    He passed away doing what he loved doing, but it is very hard to find much consolation in that. After two days reflecting on it, i think thats the way he would have liked it to end.

    Pat was an adventurer and outdoorsman. That is the best way of describing him.

    Some of the things he has done:

    * served in the Navy
    * got a college degree in forestry
    * worked for forest service
    * became a smoke jumper in Alaska
    * ran marathons
    * walked from OR to WA along the pacific crest trail (alone)
    * hiked around the base of Mt. Rainier (alone)
    * walked from Lake Steven's to Lake Chelan (alone)
    * volunteered for search and rescue
    * rock climber for more years than I know
    * loved climbing mountains

    I'm going to end this on a happy/sad note.

    Pat was a member of Vertical World, a climbing gym, in Seattle. He was there most all the time. One of the members said he was talking to Pat one day and Pat said "I think I'll probably die in this gym". He did, he passed out and couldn't be revived.

    Rest in Peace Pat
